SHOW JUMPING HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM, INC. | |
 |
Following are the criteria under which classes in the 2009 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series are to be held.
- Series standings will be kept in two Conferences: East and West. The East and West champions will be named based on points accrued in Series events. The final East Conference event will be the last event prior to the National Horse Show and the final West Conference event will be at the Los Angeles National Horse Show.
- Events may choose whether to host separate classes for amateur-owners and juniors or combined junior/amateur-owner classes. Either way, entries will receive points for their appropriate division only. For combined classes, entries will receive points for the place in which they finish overall, not just among those in their division (eg: if an amateur-owner rider wins and a junior finishes second, the junior will receive second place points).
- The Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series will hold year-end Championship Finals for juniors and amateur-owners at the National Horse Show in Syracuse, NY. Furthermore, the National Horse Show will use the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series standings in selecting entries for the amateur-owner and junior divisions.
- Only running martingales, used in the conventional manner, will be permitted. Standing martingales, draw reins, or restricting martingales are prohibited. This must be printed in the prize list.
- Whether or not stabling is provided, all competing horses must be on the grounds a minimum of three (3) hours prior to the scheduled start of the class and must remain on the grounds until they are done competing.
- The course must include one double and one triple combination (or three doubles).
- Horses competing in the Grand Prix and/or classes that count toward the USEF computer rankings of a horse show hosting a Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series class should not compete in the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series class at that horse show. Horses that do so will not receive points for the Series class in question.
- Horse shows in the Series that restrict entries will be asked to allow riders with more than one horse in contention for the Series Championship to ride two horses in the class.
- It is preferred that prize money be distributed to 12 places and be distributed as follows: 30% for 1st, 22% for 2nd, 13% for 3rd, 8% for 4th, 6% for 5th, 5% for 6th, 4% for 7th, 3% for 8th and 9th, 2% for 10th, 11th and 12th place.
- If a qualifying class is held, both classes must be run under the same schooling and equipment rules.
- Member events will be required to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Show Jumping Hall of Fame (a 501(c)3 charity) of $20 per entry. This donation is to be mailed to the Show Jumping Hall of Fame, c/o Classic Communications, 38 Mechanic St., Ste. 101, Foxboro, MA 02035, within two weeks after your class is held.
- Member events may host only one (1) Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series class per division per show, and the Show Jumping Hall of Fame class must be the featured amateur-owner class, junior class, or junior/amateur-owner class at the horse show. The official name of the class must include “Show Jumping Hall of Fame” or “SHF” (eg: “Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic” or “SHF High Junior Jumper Classic”). You may also add a sponsor’s name to the class if you wish.
- In order to award full points, a class in the Series must award prize money of at least $5,000. Series events may offer a class with prize money as low as $1,000; however, the points awarded in any class will be prorated based upon the amount of prize money actually awarded (ie: 100 total points will be awarded for $1,000-$1,999 in prize money awarded, 200 points for $2,000-$2,999, and so on with a maximum of 500 points awarded in each class awarding $5,000 or above).
- The breakdown for awarding Series points for each individual class is as follows for each $1,000 of prize money awarded:

Points will be awarded only to the number of places pinned. Should a class pin less than the 12 places as requested in item 9, then the points allocated for the positions not pinned will not be awarded.
- So that all riders have an equal and fair chance to qualify for year-end awards, horse show prize lists must designate that a class is a member event of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series. A notice must be printed in the prize list that people may check current standings and schedules for the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series at www.showjumpinghalloffame.net or at www.Ryegate.com.
- Within 24 hours after completion of a Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series class, horse shows MUST FAX the following items to (508) 698-6811:
- The entry list for the Series class(es)
- Full results for the class, designating which riders are juniors and which are amateur-owners and including riders’ hometowns
- The judge’s card for the class We will then compute Series standings and distribute them to the media and post them on the Show Jumping Hall of Fame website.

- Public address announcements about the Show Jumping Hall of Fame, the Jumper Classic Series, and its sponsors must be read during your horse show. Text will be provided for these announcements.
- If the horse show prints a program, it must include one full page about the Show Jumping Hall of Fame. For this purpose, shows will be sent an article and an advertisement. Shows are asked to print either or both of these. TWO COPIES of the prize list and TWO COPIES of the program containing Show Jumping Hall of Fame class information must be mailed to Classic Communications, 38 Mechanic St., Ste. 101, Foxboro, MA 02035.
